This Dog Still Can’t Move On From Owner’s Ex
When a relationship ends, the two individuals may not be the only ones losing someone in their lives. If one or both parties share a furry friend, the animal can also feel the sting of the loss, especially if they share a loving bond.
Camila Perman got to experience this firsthand when she bumped into her ex in a park. Not only did her dog recognize him, but Camila also realized her dog was not over him.
Love Gone Sour
Love is magical, as most couples can attest to. But unfortunately, relationships don’t always work out for one reason or another. Camila Perman and her ex-boyfriend dated briefly before they went their separate ways about a year and a half ago.
Camila adopted an adorable pup named Gala when the couple was still together. Everyone in her family was smitten by the sweet canine, including Camila’s now ex. Suffice it to say that the feeling was mutual.
Gala Was Not Over Him
When Camila’s relationship ended, she remained on good terms with her ex, but they drifted apart over time. In the aftermath of their split, Gala’s connection with her owner’s ex also faded.
Months passed since the breakup, but Camila discovered her dog was still not over her ex. Perhaps her dog hadn’t grasped the concept of finality.
A Walk in the Park
One cool evening, Camila was walking in the park with Gala when they noticed another person walking in their direction. It was a shadowy night, and it would have been difficult to tell a person’s face from a distance.
Surprisingly, Gala was able to recognize the person walking towards them instantly. What happened next will warm your heart. Suddenly, the dog sped past Camila towards the approaching figure.
A Furry Reunion
Gala recognized that the approaching figure in the dark was Camila’s ex and, dare say, Gala’s BFF. Even though they had not seen each other for about eighteen months, at that moment, it felt like time had stood still.
Nothing else mattered to Gala. She was finally reunited with her friend as if no time had passed. Clearly, dogs are not just intelligent but also emotional creatures.
BFF Belly Rubs
Gala raced towards her owner’s ex and excitedly rolled on the ground while he gave her belly rubs. Overjoyed, she wagged her tail, and Camila realized just how much her pup had missed her ex.
“It was so pretty to see them reunite,” Perman told The Dodo, adding that the chance encounter gave her and her ex a chance to reconnect, as well. “He accompanied us to my house to make sure we got home safe.”
Our Canine Friends Feel Emotions
Camila felt truly pleased watching the interaction between her adorable dog and her ex-boyfriend. Believe it or not, dogs are highly perceptive and respond to our emotions, whether positive or negative.
It’s no secret that breakups are tough and can be emotionally draining, even for our pet friends. But we can bet that seeing her owner’s ex-boyfriend helped ease the pain for Gala. And seeing the wagging tail and happy face of Gala brought smiles to the face of Camila’s ex.
Dogs Can Bring Up Happy Memories
Dogs can be a reminder of the good times you had with your ex. Even if the relationship does not work out, these shared memories can help one focus their emotions on the positive aspect of the relationship rather than the negative.
In this case, the couple and Gala shared a mutual loving bond. So, it’s not unusual that Gala expressed joy and excitement upon seeing her friend after 18 months.
Sparks Rekindled?
There’s no telling if sparks rekindled on the night of the chance encounter between Camila and her ex. However, Gala made her feelings on the matter quite clear.
For most people, the idea of rekindling former relationships is not very welcome. But, for those who can’t forget their old flame and seek to meet them again, the result can be a long-lasting and meaningful relationship.
A Hope for Reconciliation
Was the dog’s reaction enough to bring the family all back together? When asked if she’d be open to future meetups with her ex-boyfriend for the dog’s sake, Camila replied emphatically: “Yes, I think so.”
True love never really disappears. Hopefully, these two (or, should we say, three) lovers reconcile and live together again as one big family. It would certainly be a good story to tell their grandchildren one day.
