A Couple Captures What Married Life is Really Like in Cartoons
Yehuda Adi Devir and his wife, Maya, are the Internet’s favorite cartoon couple and they are back again with more wonderful, crazy, and relatable moments and hilarious antics. The cartoon drawings document all the ups and downs of their relationship and we are absolutely living for it.
The couple’s incredible alter-egos come to life in cartoon form, serving as the representations of their human counterparts. Let’s dive into Yehuda and Maya’s marriage journey!
Cravings Are Real
Any pregnant woman should easily understand and relate to Maya’s voracious appetite and constant cravings for the weirdest things! Do you want ice cream with pickles in it? No problem! How about a peanut butter and egg sandwich? Yum!
If we were Yehuda we would also be a bit weirded out by these strange food combinations. He reveals on his blog about Maya’s strange food cravings: “It turns out that it’s not a joke that pregnant women eat strange foods or make strange pairings of unrelated food. In Maya’s case pregnancy makes her crave strong flavors, such as very spicy, very sour or very very very very very salty.”
Trying To Get Into Shape
All the stages of Maya’s pregnancy struggles have been documented by Yehuda and they are totally relatable! Just one of the many struggles was assisting Maya with exercise before the baby comes.
So, she didn’t really get the message that a physioball is supposed to be used for working out. Before judging Yehuda for fat-shaming Maya, know that he did his research and found that exercise actually helps a woman with the delivery and recovery process.
Skipping Songs
Everybody knows that being in a relationship means you must tolerate your partner’s annoying habits and behaviors. Some partners chew way too loudly or don’t do their dishes, but once in a while, there’s a special case.
For instance, Maya can never choose one song and listen to it all the way through! We bet it drives Yehuda crazy. Hey, that’s love for ya.
The Middle Seat
Any man who willingly takes the middle seat on a plane is a real hero. We’re looking at you, Yehuda! He’s 6ft-something tall, so it’s probably very uncomfortable for him.
He knows Maya needs her beauty rest and she surely looks deeply asleep. Happy wife, happy life – right?! Sadly, those screaming babies must be driving everybody crazy.
Duck Lips And Trucker Hats
Aww, these two are just too cute! No matter what they are going through, they remind us that true love does exist. Here’s another drawing from Yehuda of something totally relatable.
Yes…wearing trucker hats. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, a trucker hat causes problems. If it’s not hitting your car door when you get in, then it’s definitely getting in the way of kissing your partner (especially when both of you are wearing hats!) The duck lips and pouting won’t help.
Movie Nerds
Watching Marvel movies is one of those things that couples will either love doing or agree to never force one another to watch them. Fortunately, Yehuda and Maya are big Marvel nerds.
When a movie comes out, they watch it twice (maybe even three times). They’re not the only ones who love Marvel and can’t wait to see Thor do his thing. Judging by the looks on their faces, something pretty shocking must have happened!
A Fear Of Needles
When it comes to needles, Yehuda is the biggest baby and will do whatever he can to avoid them. Based on this drawing, we can totally tell who takes care of who when it comes to sickness.
Despite being a strong and big guy, Yehuda gets weak at the knees when he sees needles. Luckily, he doesn’t need to worry because Maya is there to comfort him. Poor Yehuda!
Teamwork Makes The Dream Work
According to this drawing, it takes two couples to change a lightbulb. They work together while other couples may argue for hours about it. Yehuda and Maya know how to team up and tackle any task.
Perhaps they should get a ladder, though, because this doesn’t seem safe. On the other hand, if they had topped over, it would have made for a genius new comic idea!
Time For A Massage
Massages are simply the best and always seem like a good idea. Wonderful fragrances, peaceful music, and a professional masseuse getting all the tension out of your neck and shoulders sounds like heaven!
In this case, Maya is practicing her massaging knowledge and techniques on Yehuda, who is in for the ride of his life. The harder the better may not be the best thing for her husband since his facial expression says it all.
Beware The Drain
While being with your partner can be wonderful and fun, living with them can be a whole other story. It can be fun, but it can also be irritating and disgusting, at times. Here’s one of those disgusting moments that the marriage books neglect to warn you about.
There’s a very scary monster coming from the drain that’s made out of hair and you have to deal with it. With beautiful hair like Maya’s, shedding is just part of the territory.
Very Smooth
Bruno Mars wrote a song called “Leave the Door Open” and the line “Just shaved, smooth like a newborn” is stuck in our heads. The incredible feeling of a smooth face is poetic enough for Mars to write about it.
Despite Maya’s excitement, Yehuda makes it known that a clean-shaven face won’t last forever. He rocks a pretty impeccable beard and we would be curious to see what he looks like without it.
Clearing The Air
When you’re in a crowded elevator and there’s a bad smell in the air, people rarely ever think it’s the girl. The blame is usually placed on the big guy, even if it wasn’t actually him.
Yehuda has no clue! Fortunately, the chances of seeing any of those folks in the elevator again are very rare. Maya must be pretty relieved (in both senses of the word).
That’s Amore
There are many people out there who are against Valentine’s Day, viewing it as a way to feed into capitalism. But, there are still many ways that it can be a special day.
For Yehuda and Maya, they make it work every year. True romance looks different when you’ve been together with a person for a long time. You start wearing your partner’s holey T-shirts and even holey socks are kind of endearing.
Cheerleading Is Fun
Watching sports with your partner can bring a lot of excitement, but can also be a big annoyance. It seems like Yehuda just wanted to watch his game in peace and Maya is frantically cheering.
We wonder how long that lasted. If they were watching soccer, there probably wasn’t too much to cheer about unless Yehuda’s favorite team scored a goal.
All These Chores
Couples like Yehuda and Maya really complement each other. While she is fiery, high-maintenance, and a bit too eager, he is calm, collected, and cool as a cucumber. No matter how opposite they are, it really works perfectly for their day-to-day dynamic.
While Yehuda neatly folds his t-shirts in one concise pile, Maya messily stacks her clothes on top of each other. These two are about as yin and yang as it gets!
Bad Habits
Every couple has their fair share of bad habits that the other can’t stand and would love for them to stop. Nail-biting is one of them and it’s Yehuda’s gross habit that Maya can’t stand.
Nail biters think they can just simply stop this habit one day and never do it again – that’s so not true! Bandaged fingers prove it.
Beauty Is Pain
Women go through a lot to achieve beauty and feel good about themselves, and men usually don’t understand it. They also would rather not see their wife or girlfriend waxing their legs. Steer clear!
If there’s a chance the men do get a glimpse into this secret world, they are met with horror. Because Maya is acting like She-Hulk, Yehuda knows to not stand in her way.
Talk About Being Overprotective
Alright, ladies, that’s enough! While it should be an ego boost for your man who serves as the park’s local eye candy, you can only watch it happen for so long before the jealousy sets in.
He can’t help it that he’s so good-looking! Be proud of showing him off, Maya. He’s your guy at the end of the day and you get to take him home. Lucky gal!
Bless You…
Yehuda and Maya are now parents to a cute baby girl and she’s been introduced into their lively cartoons. It’s been a beautiful experience watching them grow together and go through life’s challenges as parents.
And, it’s also pretty funny to see the gross things parents have to deal with – especially the diaper changes and sneezes! Jeez, she sure does have a lot of snot. That’s parenting!
Hello Darkness My Old Friend
Winter is here and we can surely relate with Maya! The cold season means you must layer up and grow out your fur. Plus, it’s not like we need to shave if we don’t have to, right?
If only men knew what we women had to go through. Looking like a werewolf during the winter as Maya does in this cartoon is simply accurate and we don’t need any other comments from the peanut gallery. Let it grow, let it grow…!
Who Needs A Couch…
Couples do some of the strangest things. The saying “If it fits, it sits” is a great example of Maya and Yehuda’s relationship.
When you become as close and intimate as these two, personal space is pretty much nonexistent. Even with a big couch to stretch out on, why not sit directly on top of your partner?!
It Wasn’t Me!
Here’s another case of public indecency being blamed on your baby (not on your spouse) this time. If anything, Maya is the one to blame here since you learned it from the best. After all, the blaming goes both ways.
Hopefully, this cycle will be broken before the kid picks up on it. Only pee in the pool if you plan on swimming away, Yehuda! You can thank us later.
It’s An Attack
Think about the loudest sound in the world and you won’t even get close to what it actually is. It’s not a heavy metal concert or an atomic bomb…it’s a mosquito buzzing around at 2 in the morning.
Why is it that one person always gets terrorized by a mosquito and not the other? Both people are never harassed at the same time. Ah, those dang mosquitoes!
Baby’s First Words
With baby Ariel as the latest addition in the One of Those Days comics, the cuteness is neverending. Even when she has snot coming out of her nose or screaming as loud as possible, she still captures our hearts.
Clearly, Maya also can’t handle Ariel’s cuteness. A baby’s first words are something you want to cherish and remember forever and ever. Thankfully, Yehuda captured it perfectly in cartoon form.
